PRACTITIONER FORMATION & DEVELOPMENT

Study Living Medicine

A conservatory for practitioners — in-depth masterclasses, workshops & certifications that centre the whole person, beyond numbers and protocols.

Now Enrolling — Our flagship offering: Psychobiology™ Practitioner Training, Fall 2026 Cohort

SOURCE SCIENCE

Grounded in stress physiology since Selye's 1936 model and a century of depth psychology.

90 YEARS

INTERPRETIVE PRACTICE

Labs read as pattern

HTMA and functional labs are taught as an interpretive language, not isolated numbers.

TRANSDISCIPLINARY

Functional physiology, systems thinking, depth psychology, and relational practice are integrated rather than practiced side by side.

Coherent Method

FRAMEWORK VOCABULARY

Substrate before signal, organismic orientation, pattern displacement — terms built to name what you’re seeing and create structure.

A precise language

OUR METHOD — THE PSYCHOBIOLOGICAL PROCESS

One method. Ten movements. No improvising.

Some practitioners read markers by instinct, some by protocol, some by a learned sequence — all of these can produce results.

In our experience, results are not the same as coherence. This work requires more than knowing how to read a marker. It requires knowing where that marker belongs in the whole.

Our practitioners draw on one method — built for this work, and only this work.

Our original ten-step framework moves fluently between reading what a case is actually organized around, to working with the myth, symbol and imagery beneath it, through establishing clinical hierarchy, to choosing, pacing, and confirming an intervention together with the person in front of you.

The 10 step framework is taught in depth — step by step — inside the program.

When Insight Outpaces Biology

Niecia Nelson

The ability to reflect rather than react, to remain present during discomfort, or to embody a new way of being requires far more than understanding. It requires sufficient biological resources to support the neurological processes that make those capacities possible.

Insight may show us another way to live, but the body must have the capacity to follow. To inhibit an old response, tolerate uncertainty, sustain attention, remain relational under stress, and choose something different in the moment all require energy. Without sufficient physiological support, what appears to be a failure to integrate, heal, or change may sometimes be something much simpler: the organism does not yet have the resources to enact what consciousness already understands.”

Feedback & testimonials

  • Psychobiology has given me so much personally and professionally.

Before I joined I was feeling uninspired, overwhelmed, and more than a little bored with my day to day client cases. The material has given me an understanding of how to hold more paradox, more spaciousness, and more aliveness in the work I do while doing less for clients and more with them. It has, therefore, given me a whole new starting point to jump off from.”

  • Niecia's ability to develop a practitioner is unparalleled.

Her support, guidance and confidence in me took me from self-doubt, confusion about my work and obscurity in my path to purpose, vitality and deep presence in my practice.

  • Find the soul of your work again.

If you aren’t sure how your trainings work together, and you are struggling to find coherence within the frameworks and methods you’ve learned, this training will help you so much. I was the practitioner that was continuously “outgrowing” my previous trainings, but the psychobiological approach gave me a new map to use everything I had accumulated without being limited by it.

  • Psychobiology somehow combines a depth orientation with clinical accuracy and dedication

This allowed me to stay in touch with the mystical in my work without sacrificing my legitimacy. This is hard to do, and this material does it well. Thank you for transforming my practice! I am so grateful.

  • A thank you from a Client

Being held by this method as it’s developed into something formal has been life changing for me. I have been Niecia’s client for a number of years, and this process has truly evolved alongside me and my health. It has allowed me to change, grow and reach into new territory in my healing.

OUR COMMITMENTS

01 —

Building clinical authority from perception rather than prescription so practitioners can work with greater discernment when physiology, story, symptoms, and symbolic material point in different directions.

02 —

Moving beyond protocol without abandoning precision while providing a rigorous framework for working with complexity, ambiguity, and cases that do not organize themselves neatly.

03 —

Developing the practitioner alongside the client. What a practitioner can perceive, tolerate, differentiate, and respond to directly shapes what becomes possible in the work.

04 —

Creating a genuinely transdisciplinary model of care, means integrating functional physiology, systems thinking, depth psychology, relational dynamics, and practitioner development within one coherent clinical method.

05 —

Practicing at depth without sacrificing evidence-based rigour so as to‍ ‍preserve complexity, meaning, and the whole person while remaining grounded in physiology, evidence, and disciplined clinical reasoning.

06 —

Improving outcomes of psychologically based methods by including physiology in treatment, ensuring that psychological capacities are biologically supported; physiology can constrain or expand what becomes possible through therapeutic work.
